C@@L New Smartglasses w/ NO Creepy Cameras

I don't understand this need for HUD - I mean, what's there to look at? Messages? Notifications? Directions or something? I have a smartwatch on my wrist. And if you get a message on your HUD, are you going to walk around in a crowd, dictating the response and have everyone look at you like you're schizophrenic? I suppose it's like a smartwatch in that I can't understand how useful it is until I've used it, and then I don't want to be without it - and I've never used it.

UPDATE:

Our Solos smart glasses (a set for me and one for the Darling Bride) is still on track to ship in July - using the Zello wallkie-talkie feature, I should never again lose her in the store (she's good at disappearing). I also look forward to a lot of the open-ear communications and walking navigation guidance. We'll see if it works as well as I hope it does!

I like the close encounter action. You could still be at the other side of the store though.

Uh, me too! But when we're at the store shopping and I have to run get an item, she will invariably tell me exactly where she will be. And she will invariably NOT BE THERE. I can't count the number of times we have played (not very) merry go round as we're orbiting the store, in the exact same direction, on opposite sides. At least having these I can ask her to stop, describe what section she's in and don't move.

UPDATE:

Solos manufacturing is now rolling out the first production batch and shipping should begin next week! Hopefully, by mid-September the Darling Bride & I will have our smartglasses and be able to talk with one another wherever we are, with just a tap on the temple. We'll see!

EDIT: August 20, I have a FedEx shipping notification! They're on the way...

EDIT 2: Solos will be delivered Monday, August 24! I already have the Zello PTT app installed on both my phone and the Darling Bride's. Hoping to never lose her in the store again (provided she's wearing her smartglasses)...

And here it is! Cool tech, really nice work on the controls and the app...

So I took the Solos for a test drive and I'm impressed by how loud they are, considering there's nothing in my ears. Solos allows me to be fully aware of everything around me, while I'm still listening to my favorite tunes. Google Assistant is just a double-tap away. While I haven't tried the PTT walkie-talkie feature or navigation yet, I was impressed enough to pay for prescription lenses to go into the clear Solos frames. That way I can actually use them at my PC as intended. Plus, the Darling Bride thinks I look pretty good in the sunglasses. I had to explain to the optometrist what they were - and she thinks they're cool! I gave her the website so she can order a pair.
