Root calaxy s

hi it is me again
i have been trying to load Darkys_v8.0_Gingerbread onto my galaxy s for about a week
no mater how i try i just can not seem to do it i have vatch videos got advice from forum still cant do it here is what i am running
firmware version 2.2
base band version
i9000 DTJP3
kernel version
2.6.32.9
root@SE-S604#7
build number
froyo.DTJP5
i have rooted my phone with z4root the problem is i have put odin in phone unpacked update in phone un packed Darkys_v8.0_Gingerbread in phone unpacked i shut down phone start in recovery mode go to update zip and i get this message E-failed to verify whole-file signature
E-signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
PLEASE i need some serious help can some one please explane it to me in the most basic of ways as in how to flash my phone with odin how to apply update and how to load Darkys_v8.0_Gingerbread i am going out of my mind trying to do this any help well be muchly

Are you running recovery 2e and clockwork mod

You need 2e recovery. There's two way to do this. Flash a kernel with 2e recovery, or flash an eclair firmware. Both are done with odin.

just done it my self and it worked ok for me
