Help Calculator App

Hi there

I'm after a Calculator with Percentage Plus, so you type in 100 x 20% + = 120. (Grossed up amount).
Also there should be no ads
It should be free.

Is there such an app ?

Cheers
Pierino

If you want free, take the ads. Seriously. The developers give their apps free since they earn from ads.

And what phone do you have anyway? The built in calculator in my 3 year old Note 2 can do what you want. So I expect the built in calculator on your phone can do that.

Hi there, definitely am not looking to ride on any Developer's backs on this one, I'm just disappointed that the stock Google calculator is so bad. I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S3 and it has no % & no Memory, but the phone is fine so I don't really want to splash out and upgrade until I'm forced to. It's Android 4.4 and I don't believe its going to be upgraded so I'm a bit stuck. The Realcalc is nice, although it jumps settings occasionally. I think I'll continue with my solar powered handheld as I'm constantly calculating, so probably the phone is not the right route for me.

To get the % on the S3, just turn it sidewards (if you have rotation on), or tap menu and then select scientific calculator. A whole lot of other options appear.

Curious as to how you would be using M. I usually only do basic calculations so I don't use it. Should be possible though.

Yes, thats handy, turning it sideways. Not intuitive though, keeping my handheld, as then I'm not bothered about adverts, updates, crashes, app setting itself. Honestly, I think Google could do a lot better here than running off with all the other stuff it wants to get involved with. The foundations are not right.

It's the calculator designed by Samsung. If you buy a Samsung phone, you'll find that they replaced the Google stock apps with their own apps.

Hi, yes that is bad that Samsung would replace any Google apps with their own bloatware. However, I looked at the calculator app on my Google Nexus 2012 and it's also pretty poor, with no %age button.

In my opinion, Samsung & Google are both so big, that wrongly, they take their users for granted a la Microsoft.

There are so many calculator apps in the Play Store, including free ones, for pretty much any function you want, that I'm not sure it's a big deal what the stock calculator does or doesn't do. And I doubt anyone bases their phone choice on the stock calculator app, so it's probably not worth the manufacturer investing much time on.

(I confess I've never seen the point of percentage buttons myself - they generally just multiply by 100, and I find it harder to remember how to use them than to just do it in my head. But that's the thing you always find: one person's essential feature is someone else's bloat or clutter, and hence no app or setup can be ideal for everyone).

They provide a basic four function calculator in portrait mode, and if you want anything fancy like percent, square root, reciprocal, trig, etc. can always rotate it to landscape "scientific mode".
