Help calendar app

Anyone know of an app that will let me sync my google cal, contacts etc

Sync with what? For me, one of the joys of Android is that my Google calendar and Google contacts are automatically kept "in the cloud" and are, therefore, always automatically kept in sync on my phone and laptop (or any other computer I use to log into my Google account). You need to make sure that you are saving contacts as Google contacts and, similarly, saving appointments in your Google calendar.

Not trying to hijack the thread but how do I make existing contacts Google contacts?

New ones I add allow me to set them up as Google contacts but can't see how to update existing ones?

Sync with what? If you mean sync your gmail, contacts calendar with your desktop Gmail, that already happens by default when signed into your Google account on your phone.

Also, for the other question, go into your phone/contacts, press menu and select "merge with google".
