Calendar app

Hebrews12

Newbie
Hi. I'm using the standard Android or HTC calendar on my Desire which I sync with Outlook through Google Calendar Sync. All works fine. However, I want another calendar on my phone which is completely separate. Whenever I download a new calendar, it doesn't seem to give me the option to just be a new calendar - it automatically syncs with the one I already have on my phone and the settings don't seem to allow you to stop that. So I'm either missing something really stupid or I need to know about a calendar that will do what I want. Can anyone help me with either of these?

Thanks for looking

You can generally choose which calendars are displayed by an app. So you could set one app to display your phone/pc synced calendar and another to show a different calendar (e.g. synced through Google) if that is what you want. By default a calendar app will show multiple calendars.

Apologies if I've misunderstood your request. Although I'm also using a Desire I've never used HTC Sync, so am not familiar with its behaviour.

You need a calendar that uses a separate database. Although the main problem you will be facing probably is you are using HTC Sync. As far as I know HTC Sync only is able to sync to the main Android Calendar, and the main Outlook Calendar, so if you create a separate calendar on your device, it won't get synced to Outlook.

What you want is possible, but only through cloud as far as I know. You can have one Google Calendar, then another calendar using a different cloud service, like Windows Live (Hotmail/Outlook.com) and use different apps for both of them, just have two calendar apps that you have set to disable connections to the other calendars.
