Help Calendar Confusion - Which calendar?

On a PC via a web browser, I have googles calendar for my email account - as we all do. My only calendar is called Jeffs Calendar. Thats me simple

On my Phone when I add a calendar entry, it defaults to want to put it in "My Calendar" but I can change it to "Jeffs Calendar" which had a "g" google logo next to it - this is the one on my google account.

Can anyone explain this? is it normal for the Samsung Apollo to create a calendar of it's own and use this as default? there is nothing in the settings about this.

My wife's Motorolla Milestone does not do this extra calendar

EDIT : Looks like the My Calendar doesn't sync to gmail. What's the point of that?

No, only google calendar will sync to Google. The other is the internal calendar in the phone.

Yeah, that's as far as I got. My wife's stock android phone doesn't have an "internal Calendar". I hate this bit of customising by Samsung.
If I forget to change to google when making an entry then things happen wrong:-
My wife can't see the entry, as It's shared on google.
It's not backed up as such.

i just have no idea why they do it and then make it a not changeable default!

Same issue from me. I get invites in .ics form from emails. When I try to book these appointments, the phone ALWAYS wants to put them into the My Calendar application. There is NO option to send them to the Google Calendar. Since there is no upsync from My Calendar to Google Calendar, I cannot see these appointments anywhere else. What to do?
