Calendar deleted by mistake.

Hello,

I deleted my calendar and my SecCalendarProvider.apk, how can I resintall my canlendar?

Also, installing a custom rom is not an option since I have the AT&T version of the S4 with the bootloader locked.

Any help would be appreaciated!!!

Thanks.

So I downlaoded the file but it is not a file that you install, I think I have to copy it into a folder or something but I dont know which one.

do you have a custom recovery? if so did you make a nandroid backup?

i tried downloading the file and the site said there was no mirrors to be found.......so i do not know about that link i gave you.

why not just use another calendar app like google's own calendar app?

The problem is that ALL calendars need the SecCalendarProvider.apk, otherwise, they dont work, not even Google Calendar.

I do not have a custom rom or a custom recovery installed since my bootloader is locked.

then the only thing i can think of is to flash a firmware from sammobile and start over basically. unless you can find another calendar apk, not sure what else you can do.

So you must have rooted via an exploit, sometimes called "one click" rooting?

Problem with that, is there is no backup, and any changes you make to the firmware are permanent, like deleting things.

You'll probably need to re-flash the whole original firmware using Odin.

But maybe you can check on your phone where the SecCalendarProvider.apk files goes and let me know so that I can copy it there.

I really can't help you with that, as I don't currently have any rooted devices, no need. Hopefully someone else reading this does, and can oblige.

Your alternative is to download an appropriate AT&T variant S4 firmware image from sammobile.com. and flash it with Odin. Which will restore everything back as it should be.

You have the AT&T carrier minority variant of the Samsung Galaxy S4... model SGH-i337?

This not only comes with AT&T's own firmware but as you pointed out, a mega locked down bootloader.

Your best bet is to download the latest firmware for that model and flash it via Odin.

This is the latest AT&T Galaxy S4 firmware I can find, (Android 4.2.2, Build date 27 APR 2013)...

https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s4/firmware/SGH-I337/ATT/download/I337UCUAMDL/14623/

Instructions for flashing using Odin are also contained in the link.

Right now they have a sale of Galaxy S9 going on for 275 i am thinking about grabbing it but if its bootloader is locked, then I might skip it.

well if it is a snapdragon chipset.......it will be locked. if it is a exynos chip which is usually an international version then you should be good to go. if you really want to root a device then look to phones like the google pixel.

Do you know if Cricket phones also come with their bootloaders locked down very hard like AT&T?

Samsung Galaxy S9 Bootloader - Unlocked Thread

As @Hadron quite rightly points out... most U.S. carrier branded phone models have mega locked down bootloaders, ersatz firmware and slow or no, updates. My advice... steer clear of them. ;)
