Calendar doesn't always remind me

I have had a Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch for a couple weeks now. All and all i really like it and it has worked great for me! One of my few complaints is the calendar function (which I use a lot) does not always remind me. Sometimes the reminder will never come, and other times it will show up a day later. This inconsistency is maddening since I was used to relying on these reminders on my old phone as sort of a To Do List.
An example of the issue is that I had a reminder set last night at 8pm to do something. The reminder never went off. I also had a reminder set at 9am this morning. The reminder for the 9am event worked fine, and even reminded me about the 8pm event from last night...13 hours later! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

1. Are you SURE your entering your events as reminders?
Creating a new event in the calendar will not create a reminder. You will have to add a reminder to the event and specify the time (ie. at the event time, 15 mins before etc)

2. Check your reminder notification tone. I cant remember which is the default, but I remember it was a quiet one, as I missed the first couple of reminders I initially set up on my phone because of this.

3. Double check your date+time is correct and check the settings also.

Thank you for the insight but yes I am sure I am entering them as a reminder. I even went into settings and changed the notification to an alert instead of just a noise/vibrate. So it pops up a message telling me I have an event/reminder. Unfortunately it doesn't always do the reminder at the time requested.

I have the same problem with my Samsung s2. Could be a software issue. But I discovered something accidentally that makes the reminder to ring. Go to +'widgets' and you will find 4 widgets for calender function. 2 agenda, 1 today and 1 month. Add the 'month widget' to one of your home screens. Some how by adding this widget the calender reminders seem to work. I am not sure why this happens. I tried adding the 'agenda widgets' and had the same problems until I added the 'month widget' to my home screen. The difference I noticed between the 'month widget' and the 'agenda widget' that the month widget had a small green alarm icon below in the event bar while the agenda widgets didn't have any. Maybe that's why the month widget probably works. This is just a guess and I really don't know the real reason. But as long as my reminder works I really don't care to know why. I hope this helps.
