Calendar Question

I've searched the internet for the past three hours regarding my question and haven't been able to find an answer. Maybe its because I'm not sure exactly what to type in to get the answer.

I used to have an iPhone 4 and whenever I got an email with an appt in the body of the email, I can just tap on it and create an event. It saves me so much time and effort. I.e. if I get an email with the message " Lets meet on July 18th at 4p.m." The latter part of the text would be underlined in blue and I can easily click it to arrive at a prepopulated events screen.

I switched over to an Optimus V recently and dearly miss this function. The dates and times are not being underlined anymore and I have to remember everything in my mind or write down the event details on a piece of paper and then go to calendars and create an event for it. I am not even able to copy text from email in my optimus. Is there any app that allows me to do what the iPhone used to let me do? Many thanks.

I'm assuming you're using the gmail app. After opening the email, you can press the options key (far left), then more, then select text, then swipe your finger over the text you want copied - it will very briefly see it flash a sort of pink color. In whatever app you use for composing calendar events, you can long press and select paste.
If this is not the solution you're looking for, perhaps another email client/app would suit your needs. I personally do my calendaring from a desktop - I integrate gmail and their calendar, which is spit back at my phone.

Thank you very much for your reply. This is useful for the Gmail app but I am also using the default email app for my work through exchange. If anybody wants to chime in, please free to do so. Is there any app that very much closely resembles the iOS mail client in terms of functionality?
