Help Calendar ringtone notification problem

I use a custom ringtone for my calendar to get my attention. I have that ringtone set in the default Calendar app that comes on the Note 3. I have the generic notification tone under the phone settings set to Pure Bell for everything else like emails and the like. Here is the problem...when I have a Calendar event set the Calendar app will try to play my custom ringtone and it plays for about a 1/4 of a second and then the system notification tone Pure Bell plays. It does this on the first notification. On the second one it does it correctly.

This set up worked perfect for two years on my Nexus. Does anyone have a clue why the system notification tone is over riding my tone that I have set specifically in the Calendar app?
