Calendar Search Function

I posted this in the Samsung Galaxy S2 forum but now realise that it may be a wider problem and not brand specific, so to reach a wider audience, here goes!

After more years on Palm than some of you youngsters have been alive I finally decided that I had to come into the 21st Century!

I have successfully migrated my contacts, calendar, memos etc. to my new Galaxy S2 and it just blows my mind!

My only problem so far is with the search facility in Calendar. On the PC it's flawless and finds a diary entry in a second or two but on the S2 it freezes and eventually displays a box telling me that the application has stopped and asking me to force its close-down.

Could the problem be the size of my diary? I like to keep historical records and it goes back to 1999. On my last Palm (a Centro) it would find a diary entry very quickly.

Any of you clever techies any idea what my problem may be? My calendar, contacts and Gmail are all synching perfectly. I've shut down all other applications and cleaned up the RAM, but nothing helps.

Thanks.

I have the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy S2 and kind of accepted it thinking it was doing a server based seach rather than local (not a good reason for accepting things I admit !). However my wife has recently acquired a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and on that as soon as you enter characters in the "search box" any calendar entries containing the filtered characters are immediately displayed and refined as further characters are entered.
This is surely how it is meant to work on the G2 ?
As per Motorhomer's post everything else seems to be working fine.
Thanks in anticipation....

I have the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy Note. What I did is download an app named Quick Calendar and I use its search function.
I don't know why Quick Calendar works when the native calendar search function crashes the phone.

Hi Folks

I have an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Y Pro DUOS GT-B5512 with the factory fitted Android 2.3.6 (+ 1 over the air update by Samsung) and have just noticed that I can no longer search inside the native Calendar app.

I had a phone with Android Froyo 2.2 and that native Calendar app had a search button on the top of each Calendar screen. When you searched for events it showed you the future results fine.

I have my 5 Google Calendars synced and display events with no problem.

Have Google removed the search facility from the app?

:-(

Whether it is a coincidence or not but since "clearing data" for the Calendar Storage app, my Search is now working.
On Galaxy S2 : Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Calendar Storage > Clear Data
