Help Calendar Sync acting wacko, draining battery too?

Hey all-
Have had a MyTouch 4g for a few weeks now. Having occasional trouble with my calendar syncing. It will try to sync far too often (every 1-5 minutes, sometimes getting stuck while syncing) subsequently draining the battery. Google Calendar should be syncing with push, so there's no good reason for in to be syncing every 3 minutes, right?

Often the sync wheel won't be spinning in the notification bar, but when I go into setting, and check out sync settings, I find out that it is trying to sync. Usually every minute. Or every few minutes. Also often it will be trying to sync for a few minutes (it should not take a few minutes for a simple calendar sync). Also, sometimes when I look at the sync wheel (under settings - sync accounts) the wheel will be present, but not spinning, with the "last sync" time a few minutes ago - to me, that looks like it's locking up trying to sync.

This problem doesn't happen all the time. I'll often check when my last calendar sync was, and it'll be hours ago, with is all great. When this has happened before, it has been solved by a simple reboot, or force close Calendar. I've been having the problem all day today, and it's draining my battery. Causing me to be quite unhappy!

Has anybody had this happen? Any ideas or solutions? Seems like it could potentially be a problem with google sync server??

Thanks.

Of course, as I was posting this, I did another calendar force close - the third so far today - and since then I haven't had any more syncs. Good for now.

Still, I would love to know if anybody else has had this problem, or any possible explanations, as I'm sure it will happen again.

Hmm maybe thats what my problem was when I was on stock. I kept having this issue where my phone would get bogged down and it would just be syncing for an hour straight. I ended up turning all my auto syncs off except gmail and facebook. That fixed my problem.

Arg, that's ridiculous that I should have to turn off calendar syncing, one of the main reasons I wanted to get a smartphone.

It's been ok for the past few hours, which is good. But I don't like not knowing why it's happening. It means that it will likely happen again, and I still won't know why.

Facebook syncs don't really work for me either. Luckily it's not a problem as I don't need to sync up with faceobook. I can manually sync the contacts once a week and be happy with that.

If one of your reasons for getting a smartphone was for a calendar then I don't know if thats a great reason to be honest. Even though I have a smartphone I still find it easier to just have a big calendar to write stuff down on because I have my phone on silent a lot so I wouldn't notice the reminder.

Also why not exercise your rights as a consumer and COMPLAIN! If it's bugging you that bad then walk into the t-mobile store and tell them that this problem is unacceptable. If they blow you off then call t-mo and work up the ranks of customer service. Believe me someone will help you out and thats why t-mo has the highest rated customer service. Because when someone gets pissed off they bend over backwards to make things right.

You're right, I should bring it into T-mobile and see what's going on.

My main calendar is on my computer. One of the big perks about a smartphone for me is being able to update my calendar on the go, and have it sync with my home calendar. I'm on a Mac, so I use iCal at home.

I spent a few weeks debating between iPhone or Android phone. Being able to easily sync iCal with the iPhone was a big perk. From the research I did though, most people seem to be very happy with Android/google calendar sync. iCal also syncs well with google. So, I have them linked up that way. I was not anticipating this problem.
