Is the calendar notifications suppose to wake the phone and bypass the lock screen like a phone call?

Mine will sound the notification, but the screen is still black (sleeping). When I wake the phone, the notification sound stops, and the normal lock screen appears. I swipe the lock screen away and a quick calendar pull down menu appears with the task/meeting. Once bypassing that, there is a screen which looks similar to when receiving a call where you slide Snooze or Dismiss. It seems like this last screen should be the initial screen.

yes, if you have the task/event set to notify you this will happen.

when you add an even or task you have the option of NO notification or to notify you a selected amount of time before the task. I believe the default is 15 minutes. If you do not want a notification you have to clear it before you save it. (the little plus or minus sign beside notification settings on the add event screen)

I have not looked but there might be a way to change the notification method or to make it default to NO NOTIFICATION. Maybe someone else knows.

I use google calendar and have it set to email me every morning with my event schedule rather than use the notification options, but sometimes I forget and get that annoying lock screen 15 minutes before.

edited to add: after re-reading your q I am not sure I helped answer your question LOL

OK this might help:

in the calendar app, go to settings and you can uncheck the full screen notification and/or the status bar notification and also change how you want to be notified (email or alert) AND change the default time settings (from none to 1 week ahead of time)

I hope this helps, because it certainly helped me! LOL

Thanks. Just tested it.

This is what I want: When I set it to notify, my phone wakes up and shows the full screen notification. By playing with the options above, that does not happen.

Thanks though! :-)

does the "display notifications on full screen when screen turned off" have a check mark beside it?

I have tried it with it checked on and off. When checked, it does not wake up the phone - the notification alarm sounds and the screen flickers onto the lock screen then turns back off. I have to wake the phone, then swipe the lock screen which brings me to the calendar even reminder. Once dismissing that screen, I am brought to the full screen notification which is similar to when receiving a phone call or the clock alarm.

I want the phone to wake and show me the last screen noted above, just like when I have the clock alarm set.
