Call Display problem solved for now

Problem:
With 2.2 for my call display stopped working.
I can see the phone # but not the name of the person EVEN if the person name is saved on the phone.
It would also show missed calls as payphones which you do not get to see the phone #. I watched a missed call with the # being displayed but when I checked the call log it turned up as a payphone with no #.

Solution:
Call your provider and ask them to turn off NAME DISPLAY (for now).
Once I did this after rebooting the phone I can now see who is calling me, well at least the name of the contacts on my phone. Have them leave caller id enabled so you will see the phone # just not the name for new/unknown callers.

I did a fair bit of reading and there seems to be a glitch with how carriers and android are interacting.

btw- my fix directly applies to ROGERS but I think it can help for other carriers.

Please post back and let us know if you have this issue AND if you tried this "fix".

thx
