Help Call Drop issue in Appolo (Galaxy 3)

I give a complaint directly to samsung customer care. they replied me with the address of a service centre of samsung. they recommended me to take the handset to service centre for solution. i will now visit to service centre and will tell you the result after that. hope they able to resolve the problem.

I am surprise all users are using Vodafone connection in the above post. Have anybody tried any other connection like Airtel,Idea or Aircel in samsung galaxy 3 with data activated. I am wondering if there is problem in vodafone mobile connect or in Andriod OS 2.1 in Samsung Galaxy. I request you to try with any other connection and reply if the problem still presist or gone.

Hi Sukh,

I have tried with Airtel and it works. No call drop. phone works perfectly.

I tried Apollo with Idea/Airtel i see the call drop issue.

But most confusing part is, this may not happen to me all the time

Like discussed in forum I had it when my DATA SYNC is turned On/ while i was using GPRS, but again not all the time
I serviced mobile to auth Samsung service center and they said they updated SW(note:just the SW), but that didnt help.

Not sure we will get a relief on this by FROYO

@neebhaskaran: Dont fall for the customer service trick of motherboard. Kindly try the same with Airtel. If you face same issue with Airtel then its a hardware issue. I have also got the software upgraded. It works fine till the time market is not activated.

I tried another thing today. I have called vodafone customer care and disable Vodafone Live service. Account Sync is enable and no call drop since morning. I will try the same for 1-2 days and if there is call drop, there is another service from Vodafone i.e. GPRS data bearer service. If it doesnt have any impact of VMC, i will disable that service too and test.
hi jaskiratsingh, today i got my device replaced from the showroom.only this time i could not get black colour instead i got pearl white.also the salesmen askd me to go for 551 android 2.2,but i decide fr galaxy 3 because its got pdf viewer editor and also the battery is 1200mh only.this phone is manufactured in vietnam as mentioned on box.the previous that i returned was manufactured in china.also galaxy 551 box is from korea direct.whiuch will b good

I use Airtel connection only with 98 rupees net pack. The same call drops persist and irritating me. The Samsung company shall come forward to find the reason and rectify it with extensive research. We customer cannot do it spending time and no one will accept the findings either.
We want solution.

Hi Bhaskaran,

Sorry for the late response. I wasnt checking forums. PDF viewer editor can be installed on a phone via 3rd party, not a big deal.

Pros of 551:

it has android 2.2 which is a good thing
It has qwerty keyboard, which i dnt like but you might

Please note android 2.2 is better than 2.1. I have it on my G3

Secondly G3 doesnt have 3d compatability, so you wont be able to play many games like need for speed, skies of glory etc. SO if you are looking for a phone which can play games too, i would suggest LG Optimus One..

but if you dont want games to that extent , dont like qwety keyboard, go for G3. It is the best

hai guys... i just wanna know, if Samsung/galaxy 3 i5801 is better or is the HTC Wildfire better?

please help me...am stuck in a hurricane of dilemma!!! and this Call drop issue with samsung galaxy? can it be rectified? or is there something really wrong with it??

i really would love to know which phne is better and WHY. the Galaxy 3 or the HTC Wildfire...

I am using Samsung Galaxy Apollo (I5801) from last 2 months and facing same problem of call dropping. I am using VMC (Vodafone Mobile Connect) for net connection. If Background data is disabled then it call works fine but if it is enabled then it is giving hell lot of problem like not able to make calls, not able receive calls and call drop with in a seconds.

When i checked with Samsung service center they told me that it is already reported to samsung higher level. Samsung Galaxy Apollo (I5801) is having problem with VMC and solution is still under development. My mobile will be replaced but it will take another 2 months.

So for next two months either i can use it for call purpose or internet .

Dear All, Let me tell you, I have changed my number from Vodafone to Reliance GSM and got 3G activated on my mobile. I am using from last 6 days and not faced a single call drop while using data enabled. It is the compatibility problem with Samsung Galaxy and Vodafone Mobile Connect. I advise you all if you want the full use of your Samsung Galaxy and comparamise with the reliance GSM network which is slightly lower than vodafone then change your service provider from vodafone to reliance.Reliance has already launched 3G service. So take the full advantage of 3G on your 3G enabled handset without facing call dropping issue. Also world cup is coming you can watch live tv on your handset with reliance 3G network.
