why is it so hard to find a call recorder for android phones with good reviews?

Far as I can tell, because it’s against the law to record without consent.

Some only function when you use the speakerphone otherwise they record only one side of the conversation.

I use Total Recall on my Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman. It works perfectly (records both ends clearly). But I think it depends on your device as to whether it works.

on my phone if you hit the settings when on the dial screen the record option pops up try that it is stock on some phones like mine.

The legality of recording a phone conversation vary from state to state (and country to country). There are also distinctions between a company recording a phone call for customer service/training purposes and a private party recording for their own. I believe in some jurisdictions, the recording party also has to inform the other party that they are recording in order to use the recording as evidence in criminal/civil proceedings.

dont care if its illegal it would be a handy function to have, even to be able to re-listen to parts of a conversation to clarify things later
