Help call volume issues on razr maxx

For some reason today I am having problems with my phone. People can't hear me but I can hear them fine. I tried a soft reset but that didn't work. I tried blowing out the mic with air and cleaning it with alcohol. What am I doing wrong here? No problems yesterday. This is a sudden thing.
Thanks,
Doug

Hello twobiscuit. Hoping you have not dropped or otherwise damaged the device, rendering it in need of repair, this is another of several issues we're seeing reported with some remedies working for some users and others not so fortunate. The remedies:

- Clean the area/hole where the sound input (mic) is located with rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab or ball of cotton

- Perform a factory data reset

- Shut down the device and remove then put back in the battery and sim card

- Contact your carrier support tech and explain the issue

- Shut down the device and remove then put back in the battery and sim card

whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa....

let's not get THAT drastic here. :D

though a reboot, and removing all the cards and taking a can of air to it's holey-places isn't bad advice.

Don't blow air into any device, if possible. :)

Now vacuuming out, that's different. ;)

Btw, the Razr and Razr Maxx batts are being removed by users.. very carefully of course.. I thought word on that had gone around enough that it was becoming routine.

[edit] Out of concern about the nature (and risks) of removing a sealed battery cover/battery and sim from the Razr, I've edited the referred post and placed that particular recommendation down below other procedures to be attempted first. Thanks Thom Little and Ssith for getting me to thinking on that point. :)
