Called to cancel Sprint and here's what they offered

Nothing...

I said that I was going to be porting my number out in 5 minutes and that I wanted to stay with Sprint, but tired of paying the $10 smartphone fee... So they say, sorry we'll cancel your account.

I am porting now to Virgin mobile and saving $60/mo. Yes,, I know that it's still Sprint without roaming, but I don't roam. I've been testing Virgin for 2 months side by side with Sprint, and zero problems.

I can't believe they wouldn't offer anything.

What did you ask for? How long were you with Sprint? What was the plan you had? Were you late on payments? Are you on a spending limit?

All of these and more determine what you get if anything.

I asked for the $10 fees to be waived, or cheaper plan.

3 years
$109 Family Plan (w/3 lines)
No late payment
No spending limit
No longer under contract (I bought out of the third line contract last month)

They said, sorry nothing we can do, and no cheaper plan.

Funny how people with good credit get stuck paying $$ per month on post paid.
Why is it you can not buy unlocked CDMA phones to be used on pre paid providers...scam I say...scam!

They do jot have the power to waive the Premium Data fee. And are you on an Everything Messaging Plan?

I think a lot of it depends who you talk to, and the attitude that you have with them.

I've had a lot of problems with Sprint, since I started service with them in June of 2010. I called a couple of weeks ago to find out what my ETF was if I were to leave. They asked me why, so I explained everything (I am not going to go into details here), and after some back and forth talk, they dropped the contract on my phone, so when I decide to port off of Sprint, I can do so without fees.

The first person that I spoke to was willing to do nothing and quoted me the wrong ETF for my account. My phone dropped the call, so I had to call back and spoke to someone different, who I explained the same things to and took it down a different path.

I've been with Sprint since June 4, 2010, excellent credit, no spending limit, 69.99/month plus the extras (premium data, insurance, etc...) and have never had a late payment.

I have been with Sprint for 11 years, and dont think they give a damn about the customers. As long as they have one of the cheapest prices on the market, I dont think they have to worry about losing market share. If you want to see price driving companies with $hit service, look no further than Wally World.

I am not the biggest Sprint fan but I get good coverage, I love my phone I only pay $60.00 a month for me and my wife to on the Everything Data plan (I am on my mom's family plan lol). even if i started my own plan I think I would just go with Sprint, they seem to be cheaper than anyone else out here and they have a real unlimited plan.

Has anyone called to complain about the new (lack of) coverage map?

I have. I only did because I had noticed an incredible difference in coverage before I had ever seen the map. Once I had viewed the map I called. They ended up telling me that the 3 towers we have in this area werent running at full capacity and were actually running very poorly. They supposedly sent someone out to fix them yesterday but I see no difference. I am still at only 1 bar if any 90% of the time. The first lady I talked to said, and I quote, "You are in an area with some of our best coverage". I told her if that was the best they had then I would be switching. It was amazing up until about a month ago. If I don't have better coverage by next week they are letting all 3 of my lines out of contract.

Been there! I used to have 2-3 bar coverage in my home, until the middle of December. Apparently all carriers towers powered down in my area for about 10 seconds and then came back to life. Since that point, I have had absolutely zero service in my home or anywhere around my home. I've been complaining since the middle of December. I was finally told last week that the towers are still not running at full functionality, and that Sprint is done sending engineers out to look at them every other day, when I call to b*tch about my lack of coverage. Their solution- send me an AiRave for free. Hooked the AiRave up, not much change at all- if anything, it drains the battery on my phone even faster. My time with Sprint is VERY limited...

From what I've been told by "Sprint Ticket Support", Sprint's solution to people that call repeatedly to complain about lack of service is to force them to get an AiRave and stop go forward with their contract.

If your service was fine when you started your contract and is now not then ask to be let out of your contract. They should do it.

GL with that.... and welcome to my world. I havent been able to cancel. However, I was able to get them to offer a Free airrave to me. So that might be useful in your home.

Sprint was great when I started with them.
4G was "Expanding in my Area" (Lies).
Upgrade phones every year!

Fast forward 1 year their service is poop in my area. Right now: 685kbps
4G is still down the street from me, but not at my work or home. Although Verizon has 4G in my area.
I was also stripped of my annual upgrade.

After a 3 week backorder, my Virgin Phone is here. I dont mind Sprint Services, but I dont think its worth $80/month($66 after discount+$6 tax)

This was almost identical to my experience... But 4G was in my area, but trying to get a signal lock on it was nearly impossible, It also really burned me with their new tiered upgrade levels. So far I am happy with Virgin Mobile, and saving a ton.

That describes my life with Sprint to a tee. I was told by two techs and many salesmen tha 4G would be in my area in September 2010. I bought my phone and went home, no 4g and fair 3g (under 1mb). Then the coverage map started to update and I thought 4G will be here soon. Now almost a year later this is the coverage map:

WebImageStream7

Light blue = 4G outside
Blue = 4G inside and out
Orange = Sprint voice + Data
If the image disappears let me know. Its from Sprint and we all know how there service is...

According to this map i should get 4G on the street at my house. 4G is so close I can walk to embassy blvd. and get 4G outside. For the past 3 months this map has not changed and neither has my service.

I deserve special attention!!! I should not pay the $10 premium fee like any other Sprint user!!!

If they say no to my demands, I'll...I'll...I'll.... just stay with Sprint, cause I can't get a better deal on the other carriers right now.

How dare Sprint think I'm not more special than you right now!!!

What it comes down to is this:

If sprint charged as much as verizon and sprint still had the coverage they do now, sprint would be out of business.

It sucks, and at the end of the day you get what you pay for...If you pay the high dollars for verizon you get the best coverage, you pay less for sprint you get less coverage.

And all cell phone provider CSR's/Store people are the same as car salesmen. They will tell you anything to get you locked into a contract.

You-"Will you have 4g in my area?"
Salesperson- "Yes!, we are putting up towers as we speak!"

1 year later-
You- "Why isn't there 4g in my area yet?"
Salesperson- "Sorry, we are currently doing upgrades we hope to have 4g service in your area soon"

I was completely happy paying for service inferior to Verizon, but still good service. I am NOT happy paying for the signal I get now.

My current coverage:

WebImageStream7

Dark green, best signal
Med green, good signal
Light green, signal outdoors only
Gray, roaming

Tampa: (still see my home on the map)

My maps say great coverage, but for the last 2 days - I don't get a 3g signal. I have to turn the phone on and off a couple of times. Then - it will give me a signal for data, but when I turn the data off (to save the battery), the signal goes away.

It's driving me up the wall. Do you think it's my phone or just the towers (HTC EVO)?
