Help caller id question

is there a way for my phone to automaticaaly realize im callin people in my own area code (does this make sense to you)...when i call someone and dont input the area code why cant the phone figure out whom i am calling????

Interesting find there.....I always dial people directly from my phone book.....but its a pain because you have to scroll threw the whole thing or do a search and type the name....So I never realized the phone book doesn't recognize the number without area code. We need a good phone book app to replace the stock...

If you do not want to use the area code then do not use it when entering a contact. This will solve your problem except when you are out of the local area code and want to place a call to this contact.

I don't know why it does this. It's a 2.1 issue, I think. My Eris didnt have that issue until I put 2.1 on it. Now, same on the Incredible w/ 2.1
