I've only come across that on international calls via satellite back in the 90s ..
The problem may be noise cancellation: that's basically recording background noise. Could be that something's going wrong when it tries to cancel it out. Could also be an issue at the other end, of course.
It happen sometimes only. I tried using my wife note 3 to call me. It's the same situation for both our phone. Wondering is software or hardware problem.
I haven't encountered this on my T-mobile Note 3 which surprised me because it was on of the first issues I encountered when I got my Galaxy S2 from the same carrier. I guess T-mobile has figured this out but hasn't shared the information with Verizon.
