Help Calls in and out put phone in Silent mode?

sjbnntt

Lurker
Recently, my Commando has been putting itself in Silent mode whenever I dial out, or when someone dials in. It happens immediately, and you can see the vibrate icon show up at the top of the screen when you press the call button.

Can't seem to find a setting that affects this problem

Anybody have this issue or know how to resolve it???

Also noticed an alert today when returning to the home screen that said "smart ringer enabled". Couldn't locate that setting anywhere on the phone to turn it off.

I know there's an app call "Smart Ringer", but I don't have that app installed.

A search through the Casio manual doesn't show any returns for "smart ringer".

Anybody familiar with smart ringer???

Never seen the 'smart ringer enabled' message. Sounds like an installed app is filtering your calls. Do you have any other type of launcher or dialer apps installed in place of the stock apps?

No, I have not installed any apps that would affect the dialer. I'm not a power user, so the phone is basically operating as shipped.

I only noticed this problem within the past 30 days, and I want to say that I've had an android system update in this period of time. Any chance something got updated that is now affecting the ringer when placing or answering calls?

I know it's a pain but with these unknown type issues a factory data reset might be the best course of action. If the problem comes back then you may need to warranty the phone.

I place a call and the sound Is coming through the speaker even thought the settings are not on speaker, I turn speaker on and it gets loud like it should. Its very quite when not on speaker like only one side of speaker is on.

Well, I stopped by the local VZW store and had a tech look at my phone.

Basically, we ended up backing up everything, doing a factory reset, and restoring everything. For the moment, it seems to have worked.

I don't have any apps that filter phone calls; but if this issue returns, I think I'll try disabling apps to see if I may have something there causing this issue. I've replaced most all of the apps that I had on the phone before, and so far, no problem going silent. So, maybe it was just a glitch in the OS.

Thanks for your help!
