Camera app keeps crashing on 2.2

Hi Guys,
I have the cheap eclipse duel sim with android 2.2 and tbh have not had any problems with it since I got it in may last yr.
The camera that came installed has always worked fine untill 2 days ago..now when I try to use it, it will open ok and then after a second or so just crahes and gives the msg..."application camera(process com.mediatek.camera)has stopped".
I have tried taking out battery for a while and rebooting and even installin a different app but still cant get it to work so would love any info/ideas please.

Cheers Ian

Well seems to be sorted again for now. I Installed a "camera Effects" app and suddenly the main camera app has decided to work too, if anyone knows why this happens Id still be interested to know the reasons.
