Help Camera focus issue

Has anyone had an issue with their drm not focusing when taking pictures that aren't close up? I was trying to take pics from my hotel balcony and the majority came out blurry. Here's an example.

Making sure the camera lens and cover lens (both sides, inside and outside) are perfectly free of grease, dust etc cured that for my Galaxy Tab camera. I thought I had an issue, it was just in need of cleaning with a dry clean soft cloth.

Have you tried touching the screen display on the object you want the camera to focus on? This might pop up the focus box, forcing the phone to "see" what you want it to... For instance, hold the phone up looking at the landscape above. Touch the display of the boat and see if that forces the device to see and focus on it....

Yup. It's actually gotten better over the last few days. We'll see if it continues to improve.

I'd had it try to focus on something I didn't want it to be focused on before even if I placed the box where I wanted it.

Try the 6 shot setting and see if one of those comes out clear.

I'm having the same focus issues. Keeping it clean helps but the depth of field is very sensitive and all over the place. I found by touching the focus points on different areas till I get the square to turn green eventually finds the focus but that can be very time consuming. The rest of the phone works great but I take a lot of pictures and this just sucks.

I took a number of pictures today and what I am discovering is that the camera is "slow".
I press the "take picture" icon and by the time it takes the picture the scene has changed or my hand has shaken. For example my dogs move during that time so the pic is blurry or not the scene I wanted.

Anyone else notice this?

Any way around it?

Same thing here man, just got back from a motorcycle trip in AZ. I always take a lot of landscape type pictures while moving. No issues with previous phones, but with my MAXX, over 400 pictures and at least 80% of them are crap. I'm very disappointed in the camera. Tried sport, and pretty much all the other modes, sport works the best, but the quality still sucks.

Here's a good example of a picture:

I was alarmed by how few people seem to be having this very consistent problem. Looking at this thread there's about a dozen of us. So after two weeks of frustration and hoping for an update I took mine back to the retailer. The techs looked at it and got all the same problems. They had it replaced immediately and I don't have any of the problems I had with my original. The focus is great on variable settings and light sources. The alarming thing is that I live in Hollywood California and they said I was the first one to bring this problem in to them. I don't suggest waiting. It seems to be a defect with a very small amount of cameras and holding out for an update may take a very long time.

Forgive the mess I just wanted to show the multiple light sources on the panorama

Mine is just starting to have focus issues. I will place the box where I want it focused and it would focus fine. When I press the button to take the picture, it will re-focus and go slightly out of focus. I see the screen go in focus then go out right before the picture is taken.

A very small number of my pictures are actually in focus. I sucks having to take 20 or so pictures and only have 1-5 keepers.

I do find having the flash on helps it a little bit. I get at least twice as many keepers.

This is from all ranges... 1 foot to 20 feet.

When I first got the phone in November 2011, focus was perfect for 95% of my pictures. It just gradually started getting worse.
