Camera focus stop working? (General Android problem?)

I work for a cell phone provider, and ocassionally we have customers come in with all types of android phones that have 1 common problem, the camera focus just completely stops working. Does anyone have a fix for this? I've done software updates for them, reset the phone, cleaned the lens, and still to this day , I keep getting customers coming in with the same issue.

Is there a general fix for this? or is it a known issue in the android software? thanks!

also want to include that this looks to be a sporatic issue that comes and goes, but in some instances it will continue to be an issue for days on end, other times just a day, very very odd.

suggestions?
