Help Camera generating unsupported files

I have a Galaxy Note 4 and the camera storage setting is on MicroSD card. Many photos and videos show up on Gallery with black background having an icon with exclamation marks (!). When they are opened an error message with unsupported file is displayed. Also, when they are transferred to my Mac using Kies, the same problem when I try to open up on my Mac. The photo files are all .jpg and all the video files are .mp4.

Also, when I put the microSD card in a card reader my Mac does not recognize it.

What's the best way to solve this problem and recover the photos and videos on the microSD card?

It could be that your card is either going south or is not fully compatible with your phone If you can see any files hooking your phone up to a computer, remove all files to computer and reformat the card in the phone, then replace all data. You may even want to consider getting a Samsung Card of your size choice, and use it as there are very few problems reported with them.
