The main camera on my DNA started to malfunction a couple months ago. Using the main camera shows a full black screen. The menu options all show as if it thinks that the camera is there, but shows all black. On some apps the camera will show blank for a few seconds and then the camera app will crash and bring me back to home screen.
Makes no difference what app I try to use the camera with - Native camera app, Snapchat, Facebook, etc. Behaves the same to all. I loaded a couple random camera apps after I had the problems to see if they could use the camera, but same problems with them. (I have since removed those apps)
The strangest thing is that after not working for about a month or more, suddenly it came back fully operational for a few weeks. But now suddenly it is malfunctioning once again. This would tell me that it is not a hardware issue since it returned to normal for a few weeks.
Front facing camera works fine. Have rebooted multiple times with no help. Phone is NOT rooted.
Any thoughts? I would love to try anything other than factory reset
