Help Camera shortcut freezing?

Hi all. I just wondered if anyone could help me out with this problem i'm having.

When on the lock screen you can pull the ring on to the camera in case you need to make a quick snap shot. But after the jelly bean update, every time I try use it, it freezes for around 5-6 seconds rendering the shortcut useless I suppose. Only happens with the camera and nothing else.

I've tried putting another camera app there but it doesn't go to the camera, just the lock screen... should of known to be fair.

I've tried clearing it's cache but didn't work. Wouldn't really know what to do except the things I've tried up there.... anyone able to help?

I have got the same problem as you; opened a thread for it, see below it's called Slow camera lockscreen shortcut in JB. But no replies yet. Others have reported the issue on XDA as well but no one has come up with a solution yet it seems.

Fyi I have tried factory reset, replacing the shortcut then back again, etc. but to no avail. Only solution identified thus far is to turn off the security lock, e.g. pattern or PIN but I don't really call that an acceptable solution.

Hope this issue grows enough to get attention and hopefully a hot fix at some point.

Sorry mate, I didn't see your thread... would have just posted in yours otherwise.

Yeah, I tried asking on XDA also, but just got a reply saying they had the same problem and maybe it's something to do with HTC Sense. So if it's rooted it's probably not a problem with that area.

Iv'e tried doing the things you mentioned except the hard reset in fear in losing everything and it possibly not working in the end.

Didn't know about the taking off of the lock pattern though. Like you say though, it's not really good enough is it. Should work with or without the security locks. Honestly, I think I can unlock my phone and select the camera quicker than it takes to open with the short cut haha.

Maybe I'll contact HTC and see if they can give us any more information on the matter. If you hear anything though mate, post back here or PM me.... I'll do the same, bud.

Okay, I've had a little mess around with it and the best I can find as a quick fix is to disable the lock screen (not Pattern/PIN).

Settings > Personalize > Lock screen style > select "No lock screen"

It will disable the need to pull up the ring to get to the pattern. So it will just bring up the pattern immediately after you press the lock / unlock button at the top of the phone.... only shaves off about 2 or 3 seconds but it's better than nothing.

Still rather annoying though.

Apparently an OTA was sent lately (many on the XDA forums have reported receiving it) and it fixes the camera shortcut freeze. FW number is 3.18 something. I haven't received it myself yet (I have a UK CID 001), but hopefully this solves it once and for all.

Will post updates if/when they come.

I had the same problem and indeed the new update fixed it.
