Help Camera sounds, contact lists, general frustration

Did you restore from Backup Asst? One of the biggest flaws with B.A. is that you can't transfer contacts on your phone from it to Google. If you have contacts in BA, you have to manually enter them into your phone under Google, OR, far easier, enter them on your contacts web page from your computer: https://www.google.com/contacts/#contacts . I had to do that with my wife's X because she came from an enVy that used BA, so all of her contacts were in that app.

So when you flash a new rom with BA or flash V4 or V6 of stock, you need to SKIP BA when you get to that part of activation. Go under Accounts and ensure 'sync' if off for BA. By default, if BA isn't installed or syncing, all your contacts will save to your Google account automatically. Even though 'Sim' is an option, it always reverts to Google for me, but I un-check the Sim box in Settings for Contacts, just to be sure.

Hmmmmm are you sure about that because everytime I flash....and in the last few weeks it has been plenty, (can't make up my mind) when I use the BA it tells me it has restored like 156(or so) contacts....my thought was that it was using google to back up and restore....but in using the eclipse rom, I noticed that I had an address book built....just didn't seem like it had everything it should have had.

Yup, I spoke to VZW about it to confirm and I've messed with my wife's phone enough to know that's how it works. I tried all sorts of things to get those contacts extracted from BA to Google, but it restricts changing where the contact is saved and will actually duplicate if you try.

Give it a try... wipe data in CWM, skip BA during activation and see if all your contacts are there. Unless VZ changed how BA bogarts contacts, I'm willing to bet you won't see them.

Well I knew that was a solution as I can split the contacts. I was just wondering if there were a way for BA to sync with Google really and not double the damn contacts. I'll now assume not as they have told you of the flaw. Of course if skipped I wouldn't see them and it wouldn't sync if off. I just kind of wanted BA to actually back up off the Google account as default and not have to be done manually with double display. Guess that's asking a bit too much of big red.

I like having either Google or BA as redundancy, but the doubling of display is just plain annoying.

Oh for sure, the redundancy is great, but the inability to move contacts between the two irks me. My wife had a mess when she went from a non-smartphone to her X... BA added contacts and then they doubled from what she had in her Google act. The phone wasn't smart enough to merge contacts... Or BA restricted it. Who knows.

Mine are fine in contacts, but do show doubled if I click it with some stupid minor alterations, merged, w/e, fine. The apps just still want to show them all as multiple contacts and not merged. Rather damn annoying, even after I turned Google display off, the shit is still merged and I would have to manually split and delete. Super annoying.

I use a mix of the stock contacts and GO Contacts EX.

Stock:
I like the layout
like the ability to add contacts to my exchange account when adding contacts.
hate that i can't assign ringtones to groups
crating groups sucks

GO Contacts:
iffy feeling on layout
can't add contacts to exchange account only google or phone
LOVE being able to assign ringtones to groups
the group creation is great

With that said anyone know how i can add contacts to my exchange account using Go Contacts?
