Help Camera suddenly not working

stripgaga

Newbie
So recently over the weekend I went to San Francisco and was having a magical time... until my camera stopped working. It didn't rain much but I did manage to get a few droplets on my phone which I cleaned off. I didn't use my camera at all after saturday night until I wake up sunday morning and try to use it. I click on the camera app and it just goes to the regular camera screen, where you can see the shutter, the camera settings buttons, the take picture button, etc, except the screen is black and is not viewing anything. It's as if I have my finger over the lens and it's just dark, even when pointing the camera at something. I try pushing any buttons, such as the shutter, settings buttons, button to switch from video to camera, and the nothing works, the app is basically frozen. Weird, I thought. So I try using this other camera app I have (that creates cartoon and pencil sketch pictures) and it doesn't work. Right at load it says "The camera is in use. Please end all applications using the camera. If that doesn't work try rebooting the device."

So I turn my phone off and reboot several times to reboot to no avail. So the last step I could think of was factory reset. I reset the phone and the camera is still broken and does the same, loads the app but does work at all. I redownloaded the cartoon camera app and it still gives me the same message of camera being "in use."

Everything else on the phone works perfectly. Email, facebook, game apps, everything else works fine except the camera. Now I have to take this back to AT&T and hopefully those people won't screw me over like they have been at customer service. Did I do something or is this something someone else has had a problem with for the infuse?

Before you take it back, try installing a special rom like infused on froyo. If it works, then if you like stock phones you can go back to stock using odin, (restores warranty lol) or upgrade to a gingerbread rom (highly recomend CM7! Very vanilla and different.) Follow all directions though! [REF] Infuse 4G Super Thread - ONE STOP SHOP FOR EVERYTHING - xda-developers

It is hard to believe that a raindrop will blow up ONE component on a phone but that is apparently what has happened to you and I both. Take the battery cover off and look on the right side, above the battery, there is a DOT. If the dot is anything but white, your phone is showing MOISTURE is the problem. Good luck getting any service now. That is what they told me. My warrentee is now voided. My saga has just begun, but I am ready to go back to Apple Products, which appear to be more stable...

Thanks for the replies. I did see a droplet of moisture in the forward facing camera and it dried out. Fortunately my phone still worked perfectly but the camera would just freeze on open. I took it back to att, they couldn't fix it. I actually paid for a good insurance warranty plan that covers any damage up to me basically losing my phone. They flashed it, tried a few things, couldn't fix it, so they just gave me a new one and I'm still covered under warranty. This has been the one time att has been good to me. Sorry to hear about your troubles

Sorry man, do not go to apple lol my friend dropped their brand new fricken iphone 4s from wait-high and the phone almost literally cracked in half lol. It is a fashion statement.... Your just unlucky, maybe a phone like the galaxy s tough (or something like that) that is water proof and shock proof is your best bet i do not know. Sorry again.

Did they give you a new phone at an AT&T store, or did you have to mail it in? I am having the EXACT same problem!! Everything works perfect except for the camera. Just got this phone in October 2011 and I pay insurance on it every month.

HI,
Are you willing to sell your Samsung INFUSE?
I just need to know if the screen is in shape or not.

Just to tell you, i am not any shop keeper or dealer, just an end-user.

Nik

Go here iPhone Help and talk to me about stability. That's just one of many iphone forums where people are having problems. The iphone leaves a lot to be desired.

Of course any phone can have problems, but android phones are no worse than apple, and probably better. The Galaxy Note is second to none in the world right now. Good luck to apple, they'll need it.

I don't know, with all the people who refuse to even try holding something bigger than a 4" screen phone, the Note may never get a fair chance at being handled by many of Apple fans and users.

I sure hope for the sake of their own comfort though that they do give the Note a shot. Even I thought it would be too big until I saw it in person at a party. Lovely device. Screen is absolutely divinity.
