Help Camera taking picture but does not show up

Wifes ally takes photos and they appear to get stored, when she looks in the gallery the new ones never show up. Now I downloaded Astro file viewer and they are in the DCIM folder with the rest of the images but do not show up in gallery. I deleted the cache in the gallery program and did a battery pull.
I dont want to do a master reset as she will kill me for loosing all her stuff.
possibly I may just buy a new Micro SD card and format it.

Just for chits and grins I removed her card and copied all the photo's using a micro card adapter, once I had a safe copy I did a error checking and correction on her card. guess what it found some issues and corrected them.
I put the card back and gallery works fine. I suspect my wife pulled the card out of her laptop while it was still being accessed.

Sometimes I find the photos don't show up till later. How much later? Well, it depends. Doesn't happen too often, but when it does, I just exit out and re-launch the gallery, and usually they'll pop up.
