Help Camera turning on automatically

I have had t-mobile myTouch 4g for about 4 months now. About 1 weeks ago, the camera has been turning on on its own and taking pictures. Does any one else has had that problem too? Is it hardware or software issue?
 
Please clarify- is it actually taking pictures and storing them (ie can you see them) or is it just making noise like it's taking pictures? Reason I ask is mine randomly makes camera noises like it's taking photos, but none are ever rendered or stored, nor is the camera app launched.
