Help Camera turning on by itself (using a seidio Surface-Black case)

Im having a problem. My Evo has been switching to camera mode a lately. Ill be browsing the inter, listening to music etc.. and all of a sudden it switches to camera and starts taking pictures. I dont know whats causing it. If you need more info let me know. Oh btw im using the seidio Surface-Black case

well if this haappens whilst IN the case,

remove it from the case and test. could be the button getting bumped by the case.

could be a software glitch.

try and restart the device with the power button pull down menu and test whilst not in the case and report back.

I had that case for a day. While in the holster it would power my phone off all the time. Ditched it and went to the Otterbox.

The camera button for me wouldnt work at all. Even if I pressed it the case button wouldnt depress all the way making the camera button useless for me.

Sounds like the exact opposite for you.

I had the same problem. I fixed it by cutting some of the plastic that attached the camera button cover to the rest of the case. The case now works perfectly for me.

So should i cut off the whole plastic thing covering the camera button?
If you do that, you probably won't be able to use the camera button with the case on, although you may find that preferable to your current situation.

You might contact Seidio and tell them about your problem. I did that and they offered to replace my case.

If the case is causing it, we can definitely send you a replacement so you no longer have that issue. Feel free to PM me your order information.

My case did the same thing. I looked at the button area on the case and it had some of the felt padding on it. I removed it as it was held by adhesive and it works fine.

Using the seidio surface

I love that Seido and Wirefly are actively following some of these forum threads, and are listening to and responding to people here. It's pretty awesome to see companies getting with the times and being involved like this!!

I like my seidio cases and think this just a minor design flaw that hopefully will be corrected in a design modification. I purchased 2 of the Seidio Convert Combos, one for a EVO 3D and one for my EVO LTE.

The EVO LTE camera button is sporadic (angle off maybe) with the Surface case on and completely unusable with the rugged skin and skeleton added.

Both the EVO 3D and LTE power buttons are randomly pushed by the clip of the holster being so wide. Causing the phones to power on and off at times while in the holster.

I still like the cases for their protection. I just use the on screen camera button and put the phones in the holsters upside down for now. In fact I ordered a Seidio Active case last night for the wife's EVO LTE.

Thank you for providing your feedback. That shouldn't be happening with your SURFACE case and we will gladly replace it. Feel free to DM me with order details.

My question:
I was going to buy this but saw posts on several forums where people are posting this issue with the Seidio Surface case holser clip depressing (pushing down) the EVPO 4G LTE's power button.
The same problem was also reported in a large percentage of user reviews for the rebranded version of this case sold a a major retailer.

Has the case been redesigned at all to address this? If not, I assume the problem still exists given the large number of Surface owners reporting the same exact issue?

I had the Seidio Surface case for the original HTC EVCO and love the fact that it is slim.
I would love to get the Surface case and holster combo for the EVO 4G LTE, but not if this issue still exists of course.

Thanks to all in advance for any feedback!

We were quickly alerted of the issues that customers were having with their SURFACE cases. We have corrected the problem since then, and the SURFACE cases for sale now should not have any issues.

If there is ever any issue with any of products, we do offer a one (1) year manufacturer's warranty that covers any manufacturing defects.

Hope this answers your questions! Feel free to DM me if you have any further questions or concerns.

Thanks!!! Yes, this is good to know and does help. I am going to get / order one this weekend.

I received a free heavy duty case (from a competitor) for my EVO 4G LTE when I traded in my old phone. That case offers great protection but is far too bullky for my liking (roughly doubles the thickness and weight).

That is where the Seidio Surface and holster combo come in. :-)
