Help Camera won't work

I have the Evo 4G and lately all I get when I try to access the camera is a black screen. The only option I have is to press the home button to bring me back the the home screen. I've tried to go into Manage Applications and clear data/clear cache, but still no luck. I've also tried restoring factory settings. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I went to a large well-known electronics store and asked one of the techs there if he could help me with my problem. He said that his did the same thing, and that he used to just smack it into his palm and it would work. So, I tried it and unsurprisingly it didn't work.
