Help Can´t See USB Mouse on Screen

Hi All,
My friend still can´t unlock Samsung Galaxy S4 with broken screen because the mouse is not recognized by the otg adapter, nor the television (Emerson). He has a USB mouse and it works fine when he plug it into his laptop, just not the adapter and television, and that’s the only way he can unlock the phone to retrieve data. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. :)
 
the screen has to be Unlocked, BEFORE the USB adapter will work.

have him take the phone to a service center and get the display replaced.

I asked about my S4 and they told me ~ $200 will fix it.
and no data is lost.

Not so much of the cost of the phone IMO, that's only money, how much is your data worth, and what is the cost if it's lost forever? A Samsung S4 can easily be replaced, once in a lifetime photos, etc. can't.

Hmm.. Good point, but I'm cheap and try to back everything up to other memory devices and clouds too when feasible. Samsung is already overpriced like aapl so I'd be more likely to throw my hands up but I was freaking out one time last yr when my phone fell a cpl stories down some red iron.. I ended up cutting a hole in the wall of an executive's office to get it back. And get it back I DID, Lol! Point was, all my pics were on that phone and I was in a panicked.. Got lucky, really. So understandable, I just get mad when ppl get slapped upside their head by businesses and stuff.

Oh, so there is no way for the mouse to work because he obviously has no way on unlocking the phones display since it is broken? If the screen needs to be unlocked before he can see the mouse pointer, right?

Do you have USB debugging turned on? If you do you might be able to use adb pull to retrieve files possibly via recovery since things like your volume buttons work
