Can 2 phones be activated using the same phone number?

I have a Galaxy S4 and a Galaxy S3 (the S3 was my friends who's on my family plan, but he downgraded to an Env3, so I bought his S3) and without going into the boring whys of the matter I'd like both phones active using my phone number. Is this Possible? We are on Verizon Network. If I can't have the S3 activated with my number, then is there at least a way to may it where the phone isn't associate with my friends number? We activated his Env3 to his number, but when I did a factory reset on the S3, it boots into the setup wizard and indicates that its activated on his number.

So, short and simple... Two phones (Galaxy S4 and S3) one number, is it possible and if so, how?

No, you have to activate the S3 on your own line.

Then - you can get a Google Voice number and set it to forward to more than one phone at a time. Anyone calling my GV number gets my cellphone or my house, depending on who picks up first.

So two phones cannot use the same number? Is there a way to make sure the GS3 is NOT associated or active on with my friends number. Even if it gets NO phone service and just connected to the internet, thats fine for now. I just dont like the fact its saying its "active" using my friends number even though on verizonwirelss it shows his number on the env3. Also, in regard to the google opetion... can it forward texts? I tried to search but couldnt find anything.

If you mean using the carrier network to access the internet then no. This still requires an active carrier network connection and therefore a phone number.
