Can a website wipe all data from the phone?

This article claims a website with malicious code could wipe all data off the phone:

Does this affect the Galaxy Nexus? Perhaps not since the article mentions the "TouchWiz" interface which I don't believe exists on our phone

Some say it works, some say not. Tends to work with older phones - the S2 seems to be more of an issue than the S3.

I've heard the GNex and JB are not vulnerable to this

Yep, this is mainly for TouchWiz Samsung phones which the Gnex is not one of.

Well, looks like I stand corrected:

Just to check, I loaded up the test website and all it did was fill the dialer with the # code (to display the IMEI number).

It did not dial the code so is not vulnerable.....unless you hit 'send' yourself I guess!

Tested it myself, seems to be fine.
