Root Can anyone fix the e-mail app?

Let me start by saying this problem exists on every ROM I've tried so it's not ROM specific. The ONLY time it worked properly was when I was using the Blur e-mail app. Here's the problem...

I have a corporate e-mail account at my employer. I use Outlook on my PC as the primary interface to e-mail. I believe my employer uses Exchange 2007 for the server as well as activesync.

E-mails arrive just fine on the phone. When I check e-mails ON THE PHONE, everything works fine. If I read an e-mail, delete an e-mail or do anything else ON THE PHONE, the sync works fine. The problem is the other way.

Let's say I receive 2 new e-mails and read and delete them both on my PC. Then, let's say I get 3 more new e-mails so I have just 3 unread e-mails. The notification bar will show a total of 5 unread e-mails. Then when I go into my e-mail app on the phone, it will show just the 3 unread e-mails but the notification does not update.

It may sound trivial but the notification LED is driven by this so I don't know if I truly have an unread text or gmail or if it's the out of sync e-mail app.

I've tried Touchdown (too much to fix this) and K-9 (doesn't work with our server).

Can anyone fix this or is the problem inherent with the app? Like I mentioned, the Blur e-mail app works perfect but I can't get that app on CM7 for GB.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same complaint - plus a couple others: The Blur email app lets you set fonts and colors on your replies, the AOSP one doesn't. The Blur email app goes back to the inbox after you delete a message, the AOSP one goes to the previous message. Like you, these are trivial, and I'm living with these issues as I cannot go back to the lagfest and look of Blur.

There is no fix that I know of. I've looked at both Touchdown and K-9 and I wasn't happy with those either. If you find something, I'd love to know.

I am a developer, and have written a couple android apps, and so I was going to modify the AOSP email app to fix these nitpicks, but I just have never gotten around to it...

If you could develop an app that fixes this, I'm sure myself and MANY others would pay for a solution. I'll be your first beta tester. Let me know...
