can anyone suggest a phone?

hey everyone I'd just like to ask you all what phone I should get for my birthday, I need to get one for the 16th of March and since no one knows what to get me I thought I might ask for an android phone.
this will be my first phone and I need it to have the following:

at least android 2.1 (upgradeable to 2.3 maybe? hopefully)
at least a 3 inch screen
a usable processor
and bluetooth
at Max $250 AUD
that's all I basically need

I need this phone to be unlocked or locked to vodafone and I'm down in australia.

From what I saw on the website the desire is the best phone but if you want gingerbread and are willing to wait, apparently the nexus s is coming soon to vodaphone.

LG OPTIMUS ONE, Huawei U8500 and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini.

huawei and xperia are both too small and the optimus one isn't very common in australia, when it is it's about $300.

the huawei ideos x3 is comming out and it looks good but I heard it's only avalable in australia in april

Please do yourself a favour DO NOT THINK ABOUT THE X10 worst phone ever ... dropping calls, phone volume so low you cant hear anything...

Can you give us a list of your options? That way we can tell you the best of whats in your price range because I am at a complete loss when trying to read the vodaphone website when it comes to prices but I'm guessing your best bet is to look at eBay, 250 sounds low for a new unlocked device.
