Can I add minutes to my existing minutes?

I've been talking a lot on the phone recently and I currently have 197 minutes left for the month so I was wondering if buying a 100 minute card will actually add 100 mins to my 197 or will it stay at 100?

With Virgin Mobiles Plan for this phone you can only purchase money cards. You add this money to your VM account. If you run out of minutes it will charge your account. The only other option is to do the full monthly pay when you run out. You new monthly minutes will start on that date, and end on that date a month from that point.

I did the latter to keep from being charged some outragious amount.

I went to Walgreen's and bought a $10 Top Up card. That added 100 mins and was added to my account right away.

I forgot that VM raised the cost of the V's cheapest plan to $35.00. If this can be done in the fashion you described then it would be the cheapest way to go for sure.
My plan is only $25.00 so it wouldn't be cost effective for me.

You just "Topped Up" using the $10.00 card and then what did you select or do after that to get it to add the 100 minutes right to the monthly minutes.

You don't have to do anything - you run out of minutes, so they start charging you $0.10/minute, which is deducted from your balance.

Yeah, if you have a balance. I don't have a CC on file with VM after reading some unsavory reviews regarding lost/misplaced payments.

You don't need a credit card on file in order to have a cash balance to cover any needed minutes beyond the plan allotment.

Even if you do have a credit card on file and are set up for automatic monthly payments, they still will not automatically charge the card for extra minutes if you run out before the end of your month.

Regardless of what method you use to pay your monthly bill, the issue of extra minutes has to be dealt with separately.

You can put $10 dollars in to the cash balance online with a credit card ( whether or not you register the card is another story) OR you can buy a $10 card at whatever drug store, convenience store, Walmart, etc. and add it online through your account.

When and if you run put of minutes, the balance ( $10.00 in this example) isn't added toi the acount in one lump transaction, they deduct from it on a minute by minute basis as you use minutes--at $0.10 per minute. If you come to your monthly renew date ( and pay it) and haven't used the full $10.00, the balance stays in the cash balance.

OR

You can restart your account at the regular monthly charge on the day you run out of minutes during the month and that becomes the new monthly renew date.

(It's not really complicated, it's just complex:)
AFAIK, it's the least expensive method I've seen for dealing with going over the monthly allotment and offers the customer some choices. If you're currently paying $35 a month for three hundred minutes, you're actually paying less per minute for the extra ones.

If you're grandfathered at $25, you'll just have to grit your teeth and pay 1/2 cent per minute more for the extra ones.

Just make sure you say lots of really smart and insightful things during the extra calls to make sure you get your money's worth.
