Can I be both a noob and dev?

Just got my Droid and I'm loving it. Does so much; maps and gps, e-mail and chat, games. Oh, and it's even a phone. Go figure. But for me the coolest thing is how open it is for programing. You can even get started for free. Really looking forward to learning the ins and outs.
