Can I change my default gallery to Quickpic?

I'm sure this has been asked elsewhere but I can't find the answer for the life of me!

I recently installed Quickpic as an alternative to the rather poor default gallery. I noticed today that, when I used FXCamera, it still uses the original Gallery to display pics in.

Is there anyway, to make Quickpic the default gallery so that other programs will recognise it as such? I'd really like to be done with the default one!

Thanks

Mark

I'm not sure what phone you have but you need to clear the default and then you can reset it to quickpic.

Usually its menu-settings -applications -manage -you have to find the stock gallery(either under running or all) -clear default

Then when you go back to your camera and tap to preview tab it will ask what you want to use with the default box at the bottom tap that then quickpic

Hi, thanks for the reply. I tried that earlier, but all the boxes for the Gallery app are greyed out (inc. the Clear Defaults), which isn't much use!

The phone is a ZTE-Blade, upgraded to 2.2

Thanks again

Well thats just evil. Usually that means there is something else set as the default. When you do that and go under quickpic is that greyed out?

Try opening a picture file from the SD card. It should give you a pop-up asking which app you want to use as default. Check the always use box and Quickpic. And/or look into the settings of FXcamera and see if there's an option. You can always click a photo in Quickpic and share with FX.

PS: Be sure you scrolled up to see the "default" option. My Quickpic shows it to be default in settings. If you have any other gallary type apps, check them all.

Ah, that was a good plan! The first part worked in that it let me set Quickpic as the 'always' default.
There doesn't appear to be such an option in FXCamera though, the photo view button on there still takes to the original Gallery app.

The photos still appear in Quickpic if I open it up though, so I guess it's not really the end of the world! I was just hoping for a universal 'point all apps towards Quickpic" solution, but I guess Android just doesn't roll that way! :)

Thanks again!

I found this thread because I'm looking for an alternative to the default gallery. Perhaps I'll try QuickPic.

Anyway, the author of FXCamera might have programmed the button to deliberately go to the phone's gallery and might not even have anything to do with file association, which would explain why it has no option for clearing defaults. I'm not positive about this, but it's certainly a possibility.

I I running Cayagen mod 7 and am trying to do the same thing. While in the camera app, and when I click the upper right link to go to may gallery, I would like it to go to QuickPic. Instead it foes to the default crappy/bloated Gallery app that came with it. I can not find a way to change this link.

I'm rooted, installed App Quarantine, Quarantined Gallery. Now Quickpic comes up instead of Gallery from other apps (like Camera previews).

Oh wow, you can win then you can lose.
I'm on XiaoMi MIA2.
There is no gallery app just Google photos.
I installed QuickPic but could not get it to open with camera.

I disabled Photos , this deleted it.
Then I could set QuickPic as default camera viewer... Yay...
BUT
I still want Google photo to backup and manage my pictures .
So I enabled it.

Grooaaan!!
Immediately the camera app jumps back to Photos not quickpic.

I was so excited, got 90% of the way there but am now back to beginning.

Why do I want QuickPic???
I want to rename a photo to improve my memory of what picture I just took.

Still looking for ideas.

yep you can't have your cake and eat it to

unfortunately, its one or the other. not sure how you can have both doing the same thing......sorry
