I have an S3. W recently got LTE coverage. In some areas, such as where I work I would like to force the phone to use HSPA+ or 3G. Is there a way to create a Mobile Network profile to do this? What would the settings be? Thanks
There is a way of course. You'll have to specify what carrier you are on in order to complete. Assuming that you are on AT&T you would go to Settings>More Settings>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names>(Menu Key) New APN and enter the following settings: (I happened to have the screenshots real handy) Keep in mind that it takes 30-60 seconds to "toggle" your APN...the time that will elapse when your device "phones home" to the towers.
You could use a tasker profile of when you are in a certain area make it only use 3g but you would manually have to wait for it to get the cell tower signals. There's probably also a way for it change to 3g depending on the signal strength but that's too advanced for me.
Edit: Just had a Google around, it's not that hard to do tbh
The screen shots you supplied force it to HSPA+ or 3G? I'd like to be able to have the choice of the phone selecting, HSPA+, and 3G. It would be great to have a profile for EDGE also since I am in an area with older technologies. Thanks
