Can I do this?

I have an idea I was thinking about building my own mini weather station and log temp pressure humidity and cloud cover but had a thought about just writing a script or mini program to collect the data from elsewhere for me. It would be for my own personal use. It would be no different the me logging in and checking into the site and writing the info down.

Is this legal? The nws is public domain I believe.

IANAL but if you're only logging weather data for your own personal use, it's probably OK.

Depends on where the weather data is coming from, it might be copyrighted.

I know a school in my area is doing a similar thing with one of those Raspberry Pi motherboards, as the info is public domain then I believe this would be perfectly legal but if you were to publish your findings/results then I think you may have to either credit them or even pay for the services.
