Can I get my Verizon Note 2 to work on a different carrier? T-Mobile or Ting?

I am tired of paying Verizon, so I am looking to switch carriers. I really like my Note 2, and don't feel like buying a new phone just yet. Can I make my phone work in a different carrier? If so, how difficult would that be?

I am already rooted, running CyanogenMod.

I think Verizon Note 2 came unlocked. So you could use it on any GSM network. And with your phone rooted, you can change APN also. The only thing is that you probably won't get LTE speed data on other networks.

My Verizon note 2 is on pageplus so I get the Verizon network for $30 a month. I had to get my phone flashed for pp and it only gets 3g. The plan I have gets me 1200 minutes, 3000 texts, and 500 mbs of data. There are larger plans but this one suits my needs.

I'm going to buy note 2 i605 in ebay. It is unlocked.
I just need voice and text. I don't data though. I just use WiFi.
Do I still need to flash this phone for activation?
Or I can simply use the phone in PP w/o data access?

Thank you in advance

If the phone is unlocked, you shouldn't need to flash it.

For the OP, I was in the same boat as you and can confidently say you can take your phone to T-Mobile or AT&T without any issues. Your Note 2 is unlocked by default on VZW. I'm currently on T-Mobile and couldn't be happier.

It's as easy as popping out the VZW SIM card and putting in the SIM card for the carrier of your choice (GSM anyway).

T-mobile (and other GSM carriers) - should work fine.

Ting - the phone has to be from Sprint in order for you to use it on Ting. If you had the Sprint Galaxy Note 2 it would work, but not one from Verizon.
