Can i keep kitkat til 6.0 comes out?

I'm still running 4.4.4 kitkat, system ver 21.44.12 and phone works great. Short question is can I go from 4.4.4 to 6.0 without going thru 5.1? I have read too many negatives about 5 and want to wait for 6. The updates have downloaded to the phone but I have successfully denied the install prompt EVERY DAY to keep kitkat. If i do a wipe partition the update is removed but quickly re-downloads when the phone boots up again, and back to the daily notif to install. I understand if this is still an unknown.

Unknown.

What is known is that your assessment of Lollipop is a little skewed. The problems were with 5.0 and the Turbo went from 4.4.4 to 5.1 and skipped over the 5.0 issues.

I've had no major problems with 5.1. There are difference's on how you programmatically silence the phone.

Almost always OTAs are built to upgrade from one version to another, so, yes, you will need to make the intermediate step of upgrading to 5.1 (and then accept whatever OTA has happened since then - there is at least one more now.) So, wait until about two weeks after Marshmallow (likely to be a long time from now) and then start accepting all of the OTAs until you are up to M.

How's battery life with 5.1? That's my main concern. The other stuff is just adjusting to change...and when it's working so well on kitkat, I'm reluctant

The OTAs are patches to an existing release. There have been cases in the past (Bionic) where they had tow OTAs to get from two separate releases to the new release.

5.1 is so solid it would really surprise me that they had a separate 4.4.4 to 6.0 OTA.

Battery roughly the same ... a little less ... as always it is really tough to say.
