my evo v's warranty is gonna expire in a few weeks, and i'll probably be putting pacman on it like my evo 3d currently has. but before doing so, can i make a full 100% backup of the phone's current state, that can be easily restored as needed (can 4EXT recovery do it without root/or still locked?)

Easy answer is yes but you will need root for 4EXT as it needs Superuser permissions to run, don't have to be s-off. I'm not sure how to do it without root but I'm guessing there may be a way using terminal commands on your pc. Try searching the permanent links at the top of this forum or the XDA thread as well.

You can also backup your apps separately to restore their data later but using on of the many PlayStore apps for doing so like MyBackup Pro or Titanium Backup (my app of choice). Good luc

*Edit (above) hah, posted while I was posting mine. Looks like we agree full locked can't be done, Helium looks nice too.

On my phone, when I unlocked, it factory reset....so I was very hesitant when doing the wife's....she would've kicked my ass had I lost her subway surfers....

So I researched a bit, used helium, and peace was kept :-)

However her phone did not reset when unlocking, so I'm not sure if I f'd on my phone or what...better safe than sorry

yea have used Helium in the past, one thing i was wondering about is 'adb backup' built into 4.0+. haven't used it, and wondering how much of a backup (and restore) it actually does? (maybe when i get some free time i'll put the 3d back to stock and try it out to see what it does)
