Can I port my cell number BACK to Verizon after switching to ATT?

I bought a Windows Phone 7 along with a new ATT contract from Wirefly and ported my cell number over from Verizon ( i didn't cancel verizon service). I tried it for a few days and don't like it so I'm gonna RMA the phone and cancel the ATT service.

Can I get my number ported back to Verizon from ATT and who do I call to do the porting,ATT or Verizon?

Yes. You call Verizon and they ignite the port thru the 3rd party that does all porting.

When you say you did not cancel Verizon service tho, do you mean you had other lines on the account? Because porting your number will automatically cancel your line with Verizon, if you were under contract you may want to make sure they will be waiving the ETF as your returning back to verizon within a month of cancellation.

Ummm well then I would call verizon and see what is up, most companies will reactivate after you cancel without opening a new account (deposit/credit check/activation) as long as you do it within a certain time frame. But I am like 99% sure if you port out your line and its the only one you had, it will cancel the whole account out. You cant have verizon service without a number.

Just keep in mind there are always short timeframes on these things, you don't want to put it off at all.

do you know when your bill was due this month. if you had like a week or two left your fine, but if you ported a day or two before your bill was due then you are screwed.

Okay, here's the real scoop. If you haven't gotten a call from Winback (that's the department at VZW that calls people who leave) then call Customer Care and ask for Winback. They'll reactivate your account. They can do that up to 60 days after you disconnect, and they can port your number back from AT&T. They'll also credit back any early termination fees you paid when you ported to AT&T.

Yep I had a similar experience and as long as you are within 60 days your account will be reinstated no problem.
