Can I review apps in Google Play without Google+ account?

the title says it all... and if not then why do I need to join Google+ just to leave a review and compliment developers?

Google Play and Google Plus are both just Google services that you access through your Google account. Just like Gmail, Google Photos, Google Drive, etc.
As for leaving a review you need to at least install the app, that doesn't of course stop trollish commenting but it's at least a minimal way to filter random babble.

I don't use Google photos or Google Drive or a lot of other Google services which I have disabled on my device. I just wanted to leave some good positive reviews to encourage developers whose apps I have installed and enjoy. What a shame one needs to join Google+ in order to do this.

Not a big fan of Google? You can customize the settings and turn options on or off. I mainly use it for driving directions and sports scores. But I do see your point on this one.

Best way to encourage a Developer? Buy the Pro Key!

I agree, i many times want to comment some app and i stop in google acc which i have not..its a shame and shouldnt be like that, i dont think there is otherway though to commnet...

Thanks for your replies! :thumbsupdroid: Don't get me wrong I do like Google and I think they have some great apps and services however they tend to be a little OTT in trying to force ppl to join some things. Just my opinion.

From the moment you create a Gmail account, you have already joined. ;)

Oh no I haven't! lol Not if you choose to keep your location turned off and not sync anything. Google+ is more personal than just having an email account.

I like this idea! However, Google is nosey lol, and it seems every time I go to the Play Store I am already automatically logged in (Google's doing I guess because I never sign in - it's automatic). So, I don't see how that would work - but it's a great idea.

You didn't sign into your device during set-up? There's a “little" something on your device called Google Services Framework. Google it. Or wait you don't use Google. Baidu it. <---If you don't know what that is then Google it. Wait you don't use Google. Baidu it............

Is my point coming across. Everybody loves to hate them but still use their product. I am not a fan boy. I have the bare minimum on my device in order to use them. But I find it difficult to live without.

Indeed it seems that you must use your system' e-mail to create a Google + account. You could change the name showing on Google +, but then it says that the name would automatically be changed on all Google products.
