Can I sell my Droid A855 safely?

At Game7

Lurker
I just upgraded to a Bionic and my original Droid A855 is still in great shape. I reset it to factory settings and erased the SD card.

I did both of those with the options in the settings app on the phone. Is it safe to sell it to someone without fear of any personal info still being in there?

Is there a better way to "restore" the phone than just the settings options?

Thanks

Not sure about the internal memory, but th external memory you can definitely place into a SDCard reader and connect to your computer and then use a secure wiping program to wipe the SDCard completely.

oh, if you use an SBF to flash the phone to pure stock, it will also overwrite everything on the phone (internally speaking) and that should make it very very hard for someone to get personal info from the phone.

Wouldn't reformating the SD Card be just as safe, or does that still leave data vulnerable?

Reformatting - no. The data could still be recovered. Zero-filling the drive should make the data unrecoverable from any program. But if you're paranoid like me, you'd go the 8-pass PRNG Stream in Darik's Boot And Nuke.

Wiping the SD card would be easy, but the internal memory is a whole different story. I'm not sure how you could securely wipe that. Of course, resetting the device would probably make it "safe enough" from most people, because I'm not sure how you would undelete from that either. But no doubt the very skilled could do it.

Personally, I still have my Verizon XV6700, my Samsung Omnia (original), and I plan on keeping my Motorola Droid also. With all the cheap new phones coming out, I doubt the Droid would sell for any decent cash anyways.
