Help Can I stop my LED from turning off when phone hoes to sleep?

As this is my first post I'd like to say that I've found this site to be very useful and am very pleased with the knowledge i have garnered over the past month since I bought my LG Shine Plus

At present, my LG Shine Plus' LED notification will only remain lit until the screen times out. This is rather useless seeing as if the screen is lit it hasn't even been out of my hands for 30 seconds and I would know if there were any unread notifications.

Is there any way to have the LED remain lit after the screen times out or more importantly, if I wasn't close enough to hear it?

I have considered downloading Blink but a great number of the reviews are negative, including one from an LG Shine Plus owner stating that it did not work. Also, even if I was able to select different colours to display for different types of notifications, it wouldn't really be any good to me if the LED still timed out with the screen after 30 seconds.

I tried a few of the led notification apps for this same problem with no luck so far. I hope there is a way to do this as well but I have not found a way yet.

It's utterly ridiculous there's no way to control this! I've tried Lite Flow on my HTC Desire S and couldn't seem to get it working. This should surely be a standard thing to control on Android. Otherwise though, Android is still great.

But I mean, come on! The light is currently useless to me, and I rely on it being there to let me know something's arrived.
